To the south-east of the Pomerol plateau, on the border with Saint-Emilion, this highly renowned estate belonging to Domaines Barons de Rothschild gives an important place to Cabernet Franc. Its sandy clay soil is characterized by the presence of gravel, which is unique in the area, and ferruginous sandstone base rocks. Aged in exclusively new, small oak barrels, Château L’Evangile 2011 has an expressive and complex nose, showing notes of morello cherry, blackcurrant and cedar. The mouthfeel is dense with extremely ripe tannins and great intensity of flavour. The palate is beautifully ripe and rich, underpinned by fantastic structure.
2011 Blend: 94% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc
