Château Smith Haut Lafitte, which is a classified growth for its red wines, has clearly emerged as one of Pessac- Léognan’s best ambassadors under the leadership of Florence and Daniel Cathiard, a couple of brilliant entrepreneurs turned vineyard owners. Their estate boasts a magnificent terroir of gravel on a limestone subsoil. The blend for the outstanding 2010 comprises a high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, for which it was an excellent year. The aromatic profile is bursting with red and black fruits, licorice, cloves, roasted coffee and deeper notes of warm stones. The wine has a firm mouthfeel with good initial intensity. It is powerful, full and long on the palate and enveloped with silky and extremely ripe tannins.
2010 Blend: 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot
